The three rules
BuildItPlayIt is a place where you can show something you made without getting hurt for it. That only works if everyone keeps to the same three rules. They are short on purpose.
Talk about the game, not the person
Say what you honestly think of someone's game - "the jump feels floaty", "I got bored on level 2", "I didn't enjoy this one". All fine, and genuinely useful. What is not fine is anything aimed at the person who made it: name-calling, mocking, ganging up, or a "joke" at their expense. Someone put hours into that game. Criticise the work all you like.
Keep yourself private
Never put your address, phone number, school, or anything that could be used to find you into a username, a bio, a game or a comment - not even about yourself. If someone asks you for those, don't answer, and tell an adult you trust. We block this when we spot it, but we would rather you never typed it.
Keep it fit for everyone here
Everyone on BuildItPlayIt is 13 or older, and plenty are exactly 13. No sexual content, no slurs, no threats, nothing illegal. Arcade violence is completely fine - shoot the aliens, fight the boss, survive the zombies. That's what games are. The line is real people and real harm.
What actually happens when something is blocked
Everything written here is checked before it is saved - names, usernames, game titles, the descriptions you type, comments, and any picture you upload. If something doesn't pass, Vibi tells you why and you can try again. Nothing is posted, and the person you were writing to never sees it.
A first slip is a nudge, not a punishment - most of the time it's someone typing faster than they're thinking. If it keeps happening, commenting gets paused for a while, and after that the account is paused for a person to look at. You can still build games while commenting is paused. If you think a block was wrong, say so - a human reads those.
If someone is unkind to you
Use the 🚩 on their game or comment. It goes to a real person, not a robot. You do not have to argue back, and you do not have to put up with it.
If something here has upset you and you would rather talk to someone outside this site, that is a good instinct - tell a parent, a teacher, or another adult you trust. There is also help here.
